RoundUp
YOU HAVE A YEARNING FOR PERFECTION, Pablo's Eye (Extreme XEP031; CD 44:15), 1996.
YOU LOVE CHINESE FOOD, Pablo's Eye (Extreme XCD031; 62:36), 1995.
The previous, full-length CD from Pablo's Eye, YOU LOVE CHINESE FOOD, was a disturbing blend of sampled voice loops, entrancing ambient backgrounds and groovy world beat rhythms. It was good. This disc ... this one's different. It's fresh. It's got a beat. It lays down a track (in the case of "Jaco 92") and dares you to resist moving to it. It's eerie, it's ambient, it's funky, and I can't resist it. It's great. Mixing their bizarre interpolation of the aural experience with a dance sensibility, Pablo's Eye has spun up some tasty remixes and alternate cuts that linger in the synapses long after the laser dies down.
